Victims of Abortion

Life Network Australia - Thursday, February 04, 2010

Victims of Abortion Trauma Counselling and Information Services (VOA) is an organisation founded in 1999, in order to offer post abortive men and women a safe place and sacred space where it would be possible for them to be able to speak about their abortion experience and their sadness/feelings following this procedure.

VOA was founded by Anne who is herself an abortive woman who has travelled into the depths of despair, trauma, and experienced grief and slowly, with help from some special people, experienced a complete healing from God.

Today Anne is joyful in her life and following further studies is now a qualified counsellor, and counsels from a Catholic/Christian perspective.

When having our sixth child ( now a healthy 31 year old) I was advised to terminate the pregnacy due to our fifth child being born with severe Spina Bifida ( subsequently he died 3 hours after birth). This was in the days before ultra- sounds. Doctor said there was a chance it could happen again and that I should consider a termination which would be quite legal and over very quickly. I was horrified that he would suggest such a thing. I said that it would not happen and that this was a Faith baby and she was born perfect. Imagine what would have happened if I had listened to him our lovelly daughter Elizabeth would never had had a life at all and we would not have known her. She turned 31 in February, is a hard working office manager and part time Uni Student. Most importantly she is a loving Daughter, our Faith Child.
