The Age has reported that Dr. Jo Wainer was "honoured with a Member in the General Division for her 'service to the community' as an academic and researcher in women's reproductive health rights."
According to the article, Dr Wainer fought for decades to have abortion removed from the Crimes Act (achieved in October 2008) and was there - "absorbing the moment she had spent decades campaigning for".
This award is a slap in the face from Premier Brumby to the thousands of Victorians who fought against the decriminalisation of abortion in his state. It is also a sad reflection on a man who condemns to death tens of thousands of Victorian babies killed each year in Victoria. Indeed this campaign has resulted in a whopping 600% increase in late term abortions at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne.
Both Mr Brumby and Dr Wainer must also be held to account for the tens of thousands of women who undergo abortion each year due to a lack of economic or emotional support.
Dr. Wainer will widen her agenda of death with international travel planned. Describing herself as "One of the tribal grandmothers", one can only ask "Of a head-hunting tribe?"
