Melissa Ohden to visit Bendigo in May.

Life Network Australia - Monday, April 25, 2011

Melissa Ohden is considered a 'Voice for the voiceless' and passionately advocates for women and families facing unplanned pregnancy.

In 1977, Melissa Ohden's mother underwent an abortion attempt during her fifth month of pregnancy.  The abortion failed, and Melissa was born alive and provided with medical treatment.  After being adopted, she found out (during her teen years) the story of her birth and experienced first hand the incredible emotional pain that abortion can inflict.

Melissa went on to complete her Master's Degree in Social Work and has worked in the fields of substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence/sexual assault counselling and child welfare.

After years of personal grief and questioning, Melissa is telling the world her story - a story of survival, triumph and hope.
She toured Australia last September, receiving an overwhelming response from thousands who heard her speak and now Bendigo residents have the opportunity to also be inspired, when she visits in May.

Remembrance Walk and Rally for Life WA

Life Network Australia - Monday, April 25, 2011

After last year’s well attended Remembrance Walk and Rally for Life, the Coalition has decided to continue this approach to mark the anniversary of legalised abortion in Western Australia.

This year the Remembrance Walk and Rally for Life will be held on the evening of Tuesday 24 May, 2011 commencing 7pm at Theatre Gardens, Bagot Rd, Subiaco. The walk will pass King Edward Memorial Hospital which is the only site in Western Australia approved by the Minister for Health for performing abortions on babies over 20 weeks gestation. These babies are killed after two doctors on a government appointed panel approve their abortion. Such approvals are based on eugenic grounds – the baby having some undesirable disability.

The last sentence of capital punishment was carried out in WA in 1964 and it was abolished in 1984. However, about 420 babies have been formally executed at KEMH by government orders since May 1998. Recently we learned that 14 of these babies were born alive following a post 20 week abortion - but left to die.

The walk will continue down Hay St to Parliament House (total distance 3 km). There, walkers will be met by prolife MPs. The rally is expected to conclude by 9 pm.

The rally has been organised by the Coalition for the Defence of Human Life.

Easterfest volunteers needed urgently

Life Network Australia - Saturday, February 19, 2011
Want to make a serious impact for life?

For the last two years, a stand-up bunch of enthusiastic volunteers have made their way to ‘Easterfest’ in Toowoomba. Christian music fans? Maybe. Passionate about communicating the nightmare of abortion to 40,000 Australians – definitely!

Their mission – to engage Christian young people in the battle to rid their generation of the scourge of abortion. Their weapon – T-shirts! Yep, T-shirts.

Abort73.com is a US-based ministry that aims to educate people about abortion. They recognise that even after 30 years of a 'pro-life' movement, not a lot has changed... the problem? People don't know, so people don't care. Abort73.com aims to educate people about abortion - most people are ‘pro-choice’ without knowing why. The truth about what abortion does to babies, women, and the broader society makes all the difference. Abort73.com uses T-shirts (and other things) to get people to a website to educate themselves.

Recent feedback on their website says: “Before I visited this site, I was opposed to abortion [but] did not know the facts about the types of abortion, and the horrible truth of [it's racial impact] across our society... I did not know the whole impact it took on mothers, and on families.”

For Abort73 to make an impact in Australia, they need as many people wearing Abort73.com T-shirts as possible. That’s where Easterfest comes in. The organisers in past years have other commitments this year and are unable to man the stall. Life Network Australia are looking for volunteers who would be willing to sell T-shirts and help get the truth out there!

Here’s what a previous volunteer had to say about the experience: “It's pretty easy - all that is required of the team is to man the stall, sell shirts, tell people what abort73.com is on about and have the odd extended conversation about abortion. I really enjoyed it when I did it.”

If you can wear a T-shirt, this is your opportunity to get involved in the fight for life. Email (paul@tpcc.org.au) or phone (0409 644 504) Paul Hodge for more information or to volunteer.

Queensland Rally for Life, this Feb.

Life Network Australia - Sunday, January 23, 2011

Rally for Life — Saturday 12 February 2011 .
... It's Crunch Time

This 2011 Rally For Life is more important than ever, as the pro-abortion industry lobbyists make yet another push for decriminalisation of abortion while the current EMILY's List member, Anna Bligh, is still premier of Queensland.

Even though the recent poll showed there is no concensus of opinion to legalise abortion in Queensland, pressure is being brought to bear by the noisy minority of the pro-abortion lobby.  They will continue to pressure pro-abortion politicians to put forward a private member's bill before the current premier's term has ended.

Speakers this year include Archbishop John Bathersby DD of the Brisbane Catholic Archdiocese, and Mrs Maria Bozikis, wife of Rev Fr Anastasios Bozikis of the Greek Orthodox Church.  You will be stunned to hear the pressure brought to bear on Mrs Bozikis by medical personnel!  Want to know why?  Come to the Rally For Life and find out.

When and Where .
When: Saturday 12th February 2011. Pre-rally entertainment starts at 1:15pm with the main event starting at 2:00pm.  Estimated finish time is 4:00pm.

A donation will be taken to cover the costs of running this event, and to make it even bigger and better next year.

Where: Queens Park, cnr William, Elizabeth & George Sts, in the Brisbane CBD.  (Click for interactive Google Map)

Public transport is recommended, but car parking is available underneath Queens Park and in other parts of the city

Why should you attend? Because the unborn are depending on YOU to protect them.
We do not want to end up with babies being aborted up to the day of birth — as is now legal in Victoria. We do not want our hospitals to be forced to do abortions, traumatising their staff and clogging up our already over-burdened health system. Abortion harms women, destroys babies and emasculates men.

Where: Queens Park, cnr William, Elizabeth & George Sts, Brisbane CBD

What to bring: Your family and friends, hat, water, sunscreen, chair, rug, umbrella.

NOTE: Expected finish time 4pm.  Only official placards allowed
