2009 Achievements - The Choices of Life

Life Network Australia - Saturday, December 19, 2009
In October a Victorian State School Principal wrote this enthusiastic endorsement of the 'Wonder of Life' (in the womb) Program.

“On behalf of the staff and students I would like to thankyou for providing our students with an informative, and thought provoking presentation recently.

It was a very engaging session for our grade 5/6 students. The tone was positive and all students were encouraged to participate at their level of understanding.

Responses during question time were appropriate and educational. All students felt comfortable during this session, which was delivered in a caring and thoughtful manner.

Your presentation of the content was appropriate and you was able to provide meaningful answers to all questions, which satisfied the childrens’ curiosity without making them feel embarrassed in front of their peers.

Following your presentation, the children wrote very positive and informed comments.

Thank you once again for this program which I thoroughly endorse and whole heartedly recommend to other schools".

After four and a half months of deliberation and review of the approval process, the Deputy Director-General of DET issued a statement on 27th October that “there were significant flaws at each stage of the review assessment, authorisation and registration process”.

A number of reasons were stated to justify their decision to remove the program’s approval. It is still unclear what constitutes many of those so called ‘significant flaws’.  They also conceded that, as far as the DET is concerned, “the presentation is not ‘banned’ from NSW public schools. It is simply not an ‘authorised performance’”.

The DDG also stated that “Choices of Life is entitled to make approaches to any NSW public school”, a presentation being conditional on the approval of the Principal.
