An estimated 80,000 - 90,000 surgical abortions are performed in Australia each year. 1 , 2 This equates to approximately 250 per day, or one abortion for every 2.8 live births.3 One in three Australian women will have an abortion in their lifetime. 4
An accurate number can not be calculated using the current systems of statistical collection. 5 An analysis of the available data has been prepared by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
There are no statistics available for the number of chemical abortions in Australia. The ‘morning after pill’, Postinor-2 is available over the counter and accounts for an unknown number of early abortions. A combination of drugs, Methotrexate and Misoprostal, is also widely used to induce abortion before 7 weeks gestation. This is done as a general consult by doctors and the number is not recorded.

the child was going to be incredibly deformed and you would more than likely die giving birth to it, would you really not want an abortion?
on infant and neonatal mortality rates for the year 2008 demonstrate this quite clearly. Would you want to be the person to tell someone who was born as a product of rape that they shouldn't be alive because abortion is their mother's right? I certainly wouldn't.
Google Layne Beachley, she is one such baby.

the growth and development of the foetus (Latin meaning 'Little one')is so rapid, that by the time most women learn they are pregnant, the baby has a heartbeat and their organs are developing quickly, along with fingers, toes etc.. Thirdly, in Australia, babies
are now being aborted right up until birth - with some babies even being born alive and left to die (Victorian Health Department Report, 2008)- over half of them are perfectly healthy babies. In terms of women's "choice", that is the catch phrase of the abortion
industry, who make big bucks from giving women and girls abortions...what most women report is that they had an abortion because they felt they had no other choice. Please go to our home page and see reasons why women "choose" abortion. Feminist Germaine Greer
said that "Abortion is the last non choice in a long list of non choices". Abortion hurts women, men, babies and families, sometimes for decades afterwards.. Check out Melinda Tankard-Reist's book 'Giving Sorrow Words' for insight into the devastation caused
by abortion for many women. We actually believe that babies, women and families deserve better than abortion. Abortion doesn't make a woman unpregnant, it makes her the mother of a dead baby...something the abortion industry knows but will never rell you!
Women should "Refuse to choose" - check out feministsforlife.org . Thanks for your question - hope this brief explanation helps. Please check out other info on our website to get an overview of abortion in Australia.. the situation has become a nightmare!!

can this happen?
